Thoughts and discussion on kettlebell training, strength and conditioning, Olympic lifting, fat loss, getting healthy and fit, NMT, core training, Pilates, mobility and anything else that goes with the above.
Here is a short demonstration of Shane performing FFI lateral power clubs swings. There are 2 different types of swings, internal and external or from a Camogie sport point of view, strong and weak sides.
The purpose of the FFI lateral swing, is teach the athlete how to use their mid section (core, oblique abdominals etc.) to produce power. If we can increase power with these movements, coupled with sport specific Camogie training, then we can make the player stronger and quicker.
Apart fom the above benefits, training with power clubs will strengthen the forearms, wrists and grip. Power clubs can also help mobilise all joints, specifically the lower back and shoulders. We can target sport specific muscular imbalances that can lead to in season injuries. We can also apply strength and conditioning methods, in a sports specific (Camogie, Hurling) manner with power clubs.
