Thoughts and discussion on kettlebell training, strength and conditioning, Olympic lifting, fat loss, getting healthy and fit, NMT, core training, Pilates, mobility and anything else that goes with the above.
Above is a movement we have been doing since we started our Kettlebellsireland classes in 2006. We call it the High Windmill, a progression of the the KBI Low Windmill.
Of course the KBI Low Windmill should be mastered first before attempting the more advanced KBI High Windmill.
The benefits of this fantastic movement are mainly;
Strengthen the Deltoids and Triceps (it's a pressing movement)
Mobilise the shoulder joint
Improve shoulder stability
Strengthen the Core (lateral oblique fibres) and lower back
Mobilise the hips and spine in the frontal plane (rare)
Strength and a loaded stretch for the hamstrings and hip adductors
I am sure there are more benefits but that's enough for the moment.
We will be teaching this movement or variations on our next FFI KBI morning school drop course, starting in the Iona Pastoral Hall Knocklyon Dublin 16 on Tuesday February 26th.
9am classes, after school drop, every Tuesday and Thursday for 5 weeks.
